We are delighted to be able to announce the sixth Legend to be confirmed for the Southend United Legends side on Sunday 17th May.

Nicky Nicolau, who was born on 12/10/1983, initially joined Southend United on loan from Arsenal, before signing permenatly in the Summer of 2004. Nicky played a huge part in the Clubs promotion from League Two via the play-offs. He won the penalty, converted by Freddy Eastwood, in the semi-final against Northampton Town and he also supplied the corner kick which lead to Southend United's first goal vs Lincoln in the play-off final. He left in the summer, joining Swindon Town on a free transfer. The left back, who could also play on the left hand side of midfield, went on to make 30 appearances with a further 9 coming from the bench scoring 2 goals. Nicky also played for Arsenal, Swindon Town, Hereford United (Loan), Barnet, Woking, Dover Athletic, Boreham Wood, Lincoln City, Welling United and Chelmsford City.

We are delighted to have Nicky onboard, and we look forward to welcoming him on Sunday 17th May.
