We are delighted to be able to announce the seventh Legend to be confirmed for the Southend United Legends side on Sunday 17th May.
Mark Bentley, who was born on 07/01/1978, joined Southend United from Dagenham & Redbiridge as Steve Tilson's first signing as manager in January 2004. Mark played a huge part in the Clubs back to back promotion from League Two up to the Championship. He left the Club following promotion to the Championship, joining Gillingham on a free transfer. The central midfielder, who could also play on the right hand side of midfield, went on to make 81 starts in all competitions at Southend with a further 26 coming from the bench scoring 13 goals. Mark also played for Aveley, Enfield, Aldershot Town, Gravesend & Northfleet, Dagenham & Redbridge, Gillingham, Cambridge United (Loan), Hayes & Yeading United, Boreham Wood, Wealdstone and Grays Athletic.
