Mark Phillips Becomes The Eighth Legend

We are delighted to be able to announce the eighth Legend to be confirmed for the Southend United Legends side on Sunday 17th May.

Mark Phillips, who was born on 02/09/1982, joined Southend United on a free transfer from Brentford under previous manager Paul Sturrock in August 2010. Mark played a huge part in helping the Club reaching their first Wembley final in April 2013 with a heroic performance against Leyton Orient in the Southern Area Final second leg at Roots Hall. He left the Club in the summer of 2014, joining fellow League Two side AFC Wimbledon on a free transfer. The goal scoring centre back went on to make 102 starts in all competitions at Southend with a further 12 coming from the bench scoring 13 goals. Mark also played for Millwall, Darlington (Loan), Brentford, Aldershot Town (Loan), AFC Wimbledon and Aldershot Town (Loan).

We are delighted to have Mark onboard, and we look forward to welcoming him on Sunday 17th May.
